Hanging around other book people – along with all of us who enjoy related fun – is always a pleasure. And creating community is a big part of our purpose. Therefore, Dragonfly Book Bar will host a variety of social events, classes, and other activities in-store. Upcoming events are listed below, including details of price and how to register (where applicable).

We are also open to hosting a wide variety of events or rentals – from one-off and regular book clubs to classes/workshops to birthday and other parties. If you are interested in hosting your event or rental at Dragonfly Book Bar, please complete this Event Request Form at least three (3) weeks in advance. Pricing will be dependent on the type of event, number of participants, timeframe, etc. We also welcome folks to hang out in our space and enjoy food and drink while engaging in quiet hobbies!

Book Signing: John Doriot
Monday, October 20, 3:00pm
Join us for a book signing event with award-winning author and poet John Doriot. He has written 17 books and has received 7 Georgia Independent Author of the Year Awards from 2022 to 2025, including awards for best horror/thriller novel (Litter), best science fiction novel (The Cures), best collection of short stories twice (Grimmer Folk Stories, Idioms), and best poetry collection (From Sorrow To Tomorrow, Slowly, I Grow). He has also written a series of children’s books based on his dog Oreo.
Several of his books will be on sale at Dragonfly, and John will be signing books from 3:00 to 5:00pm. You can then catch John and Oreo (!) for storytime at Bristol Public Library at 10:00am on Tuesday, October 21.

Jane Austen Reading Group: Mansfield Park

We are hosting the King Institute of Faith & Culture's monthly Jane Austen Reading Group, led by Dr Karen Shaw! Jane Austen was born in 1775, so the Reading Group is celebrating her 250th by reading three of her novels each semester, in the order that she wrote them.
Food and drink will be available for purchase. And we have new and used copies of the novels, along with several books about or related to Jane Austen. If you would like a copy of the book ordered for you, please click the “Order Book” button below!
